Planetree’s model focuses on “healing and nurturing body, mind and spirit”. Our goal is to provide a home that provides what each individual needs for overall wellness of body, mind and soul. To keep it simple, we honor and respect our residents’ wishes and choices every day. We are continually expanding and improving on our quality of service and giving our residents additional choices and flexibility in their daily lives.
Nashwaak Villa joined Planetree International in 2016. Our first step as a Planetree home began with an initial assessment which provided us with valuable information about our home including areas where we can improve and grow as an organization.
To spread the Planetree message throughout the home, the Planetree Education Team worked with Planetree International to lead all staff through an interactive retreat centered on person-centered care. This transformative experience has helped inspire Nashwaak Villa staff to provide excellent person care to our residents.
In addition to the education team, the Planetree Steering Committee works on goals relating to Planetree and person-centered care. Currently the Steering Committee consists of staff members from various departments throughout the home in addition to family members and resident team members.
Three years after beginning our Person-Centered journey with Planetree international, in September 2019, Nashwaak Villa proudly announces that through Planetree’s thorough Certification Program, we are a GOLD certified Planetree Organization.
The Planetree Certification Program for Excellence in Person Centered Care recognizes the achievement of creating person-centered culture which engages staff, residents, family members, and the broader community to provide excellent quality of care.
With this great achievement, Nashwaak Villa joins 90 other healthcare organizations throughout the world that hold this prestigious certification. This success is well deserved by our wonderful team of staff, the residents who allow us to care for them each and every day, and the dedicated family members and community members who have supported us throughout this journey.
